The Silk Route, or Silk Road, was a vast historical network of trade routes connecting Asia, the Middle East, and Europe from the 2nd century BCE to the mid-15th century, named after China's lucrative silk trade. It facilitated the exchange of not just goods like silk, spices, and precious stones, but also the spread of ideas, culture, technology, and religions across continents.
